The Details

To assist the Celebrity Editor and the celebrity team in all areas of their work, including research, writing, admin, attending events during in and out of office hours. To provide support to the team at busy times and work proactively to generate news and features for Reveal.

The Role

• Be aware of the editorial pillars, readership and brand values of Reveal
• Research, transcribe and attend celebrity interviews when required
• Write news and features for the magazine and online with flair and in keeping with Reveal’s house style

• Constantly stay on top of current celebrity news by reading newspapers, magazines and websites and be aware of the content of the opposition

• To support both the Celebrity team with writing news and features, admin tasks, transcribing interviews, planning photoshoots in writing and researching
• Filing of weekly competitor magazines/newspapers and reading the US magazine scans, sending a summary round each week

• Attend launches, photoshoots and other celebrity events out of the office, when required
• Be flexible and work to tight deadlines in a fast-changing environment

The Person

• Organised and able to work calmly to deadline
• Confident, professional and personable on the telephone, over email and face-to-face
• Able to approach and chat to celebrities at parties and events off-the-cuff in a friendly, confident and professional manner whilst still securing a great story
• A team player, able to get stuck in and get the job done
• A strong news sense – you can spot a celebrity news story brewing a mile off
• A social media maven - you’re across all the major media platforms and are on Kanye’s rambling tweets before he gets a chance to click delete
• Have strong social media skills – assist with the Reveal Twitter, Facebook and Instagram daily posts
• Hardworking – and prepared to work outside office hours in order to secure that big story for Reveal
• Bursting with ideas and original angles for newsy features and themes
• An encyclopedic knowledge of all things celebrity and pop culture : you need to know your Kendall from your Kylie and be able to name all of Katie Price’s exes
• Administrative skills
• A graduate, or similar with previous work experience on a national newspaper, consumer magazine or news website
