An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Graduate Broadcast Engineer to join our Broadcast Systems and Engineering team on an 18 month Fixed Term Contract.

Reporting into the Broadcast Systems & Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will be provided with first class training across all areas of STV Broadcast Engineering.

Operational on the job training will be provided in all areas of the CTA (Central Technical Areas) Including MCR, Transmission and Content Management, in conjunction with training and education in all aspects of STV’s Broadcast Technology Infrastructure.

Skills and Experience

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in Broadcast or Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience in Electronic or Broadcast engineering and using communication equipment.
  • A keen interest in all aspects of Television technology.
  • The ability to apply digital (and analogue) theory and work from diagrammatic information.
  • Excellent IT skills.
  • Fault-finding skills and the capacity to solve technical problems in a creative way.
  • The ability to work well in teams.
  • Strong communication and people skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • The ability to work flexibly.

The STV Broadcast Technology Department provides a 24/7 operational role.  The Graduate Broadcast Engineer will work a mixture of regular (9 to 5.30) hours and, when required, work on a shift pattern.  This will include night shifts and weekends on a 12 hour shift pattern.
