TheGrad? We are a personal development platform that will help you to connect the missing dots. We will address your basic soft skills that can be built on as well as advice on job interview techniques and we were so happy to attend Fresher Fairs last week at the Universiy of Westminster.
Freshers is a big highlight for the majority of students who begin an adventure at a university. It is the chance to integrate into university life and find lots of friends too. You learn lots about the university and what benefits it has on offer. The Freshers Career Fairs are useful – they allow students to gain an insight into the professional working world instantly, which is why we decided to be present at the University of Westminster (UWSU) Fresher Fairs in Cavendish, Regents and Harrow last week.
Admittedly, the first few days at university can be very overwhelming. Lots of new faces and conversations flowing in all directions – a whole new world is exposed along with a whole lot of ‘unknowns’. But that’s exciting, right? We believe that while studying at university, extra support should be encouraged. With TheGrad you can gain insight into different industries, have access to a portal of updated job posts all across the company and build a unique online profile that can be found by employers. All for free.
Getting out of your comfort zone can open so many doors for you to many possibilities. With the right attitude and ‘can-do’ mindset, your future can be shaped just the way you want it.
So, what happened at the Fresher Fairs with the UWSU?
Students enjoyed taster sessions from all types of companies. Students were able to discover inspiring new interests and sign up for many clubs, societies, external businesses and students’ union collaborations. Lots of freebies were floating about too. Getting involved in extra-curricular activities is strongly encouraged during Freshers, which we at TheGrad also urge students to do. Future employers are sure to be impressed by a broad range of interests that you may have as well as having the ability to diversify in a variety of areas.
So, what did we find out while attending the Fresher Fairs at the University of Westminster?
Students liked that the majority of TheGrad team are alumni students. We offer a range of services including help with CV’s, Cover Letters, Applications and other bespoke workshops. The entire team offers helpful advice at all times, even for international students who want assistance and guidance to apply for jobs.
Collaborating with societies is something TheGrad is keen to do. Encouraging employment levels to increase is a joint-wish, something we are considering to push forward in the foreseeable future.
We noticed that even lecturers want employment and graduate employment to go up as it took a dip last year. A Senior Lecturer and Director at the University of Westminster stated that the current graduate employment level of the UoW is 35% – we can come in and assist in increasing that figure, for sure.
TheGrad is passionate about helping students from all niche courses – we offer support on finding internship opportunities and can assist on which sectors to apply for, suited to individual desires.
We are keen to host sessions on employment to help clubs and societies push graduate employment opportunities and advice. We are passionate about Career Development and want to showcase the broad spectrum of jobs out there for graduates. There is an abundance of graduate schemes that need to be acknowledged…so talk to us more about that if you are interested.
We will continuously strive to build on our career content to enthuse our students and readers from all over the world. It is important that people feel that they can make measured career decisions that are based on informed education and trusted career advice.
Present yourself openly through our ‘profile builder‘. Market yourself interactively to employers and build on your profile step by step. You will be accumulating new skills while at university as well as going through new experiences, all that will aid and contribute to your job search and personal development.
Please contact me firstname.lastname@example.org if you want to contribute to our Blog. We would love to have some contributions from all different courses and walks of life…we want to hear your message and influence others through inspiring, leading content.
To your success…
