Feeling a little confused and unsure about how to take the graduate ethos into your own hands? Searching for graduate schemes and opportunities but don’t know where to start? On the quest to source relevant graduate events to help place you in the right direction?
Seeking support and opportunities
Times may be difficult but you have to remember that there is support all around you. From your friends to your family, there will always be someone willing to listen and help. If you have a friend that is also struggling to get a job then it’s important that you are there for one another. Supporting others is a rewarding feeling and it is very beneficial to other people’s lives.
Talk about how you’re feeling and share your concerns, you may find that you have the answers for each other. It’s completely normal to feel like you’re struggling and that you have nothing to look forward to because the time after graduation is challenging and a continuous fight. There is a pressure absolutely everywhere to ‘find that job that you went to university for’ but don’t let that beat you, let it drive you!
Take every opportunity onboard after graduating. Whether it’s work experience or an internship, every opportunity is a beneficial one. If it is something new then it should be even more of a reason to accept it. Change is new and exciting and ultimately, it opens up the door to growth.
Don’t forget to network, too. Promoting the graduate ethos is something to be proud of and you can take advantage of doing this through networking events. Make sure that you browse graduate events in your local area on the internet and stay up to date with it. Being on top of events is crucial if you want to broaden your connections and learning.
Remember that all experience is a good experience. One of the best ways to figure out what you want to do is to experiment and try things out and learn what you don’t like doing. The graduate ethos as a status can feel quite scary but Consider doing new things with a smile on your face and enjoy being a graduate. After all, to be one you have achieved so much.
