1.What is your full name, the company you work for and your position within the company?
My name is Zain Saleem, I work for Cornware and I am a Junior Business Analyst.
2. In what ways does the company you work for accommodate for graduates?
We hold internships during the summer and if we are impressed with the overall input of the intern, we then call them back after graduating with an offer.
3.What is the current market like for internships, long-term careers, and other opportunities? Please describe.
Going out to the real world isn’t as easy as you may think. I was flabbergasted myself. It’s essential to have some experience on your back even if it’s for one month. There’s always someone better than you and more qualified, you need to know how to talk in order to sell yourself at the interview, and have some good experience in the field you’re hoping to go into/studying in.
4.Do you have any advice you can give to the current graduate market in your field?
Take any job within limits. Build your experience and CV. Don’t waste time, always be hands-on.
5.Do you have any tips for students studying in your area of expertise?
Do a sandwich year and get some valuable experience!
6.Do you have any final words/inspirations for students and graduates in relation to the world of work?
Most of the time you start in a basic position, let it be. You’re only going to climb the ladder. Work hard and prove your worth. Everything will come in time and fall into place.
These words of wisdom show that it doesn’t matter if you start at the bottom of the ladder, through hard-work you will naturally climb up and up. Make sure that your heart is in what you’re doing as without sincere passion, overall performance may affect future opportunities.
